Before I begin to spill my thoughts, experiences and wisdom (hopefully), I think it is important for me to introduce myself.
Currently, I am a first generation college student at the UK College of Pharmacy. I did 3 years of undergrad at the University of Kentucky as well. My time may be limited by studying and clinical internships, but I plan to post as often as the Holy Spirit fills my heart with a message to pass on. God bless y’all and I pray that your spirits will be renewed this Easter!
I, like the previous eight generations of my family, was born and raised in the beautiful mountains of eastern Kentucky (specifically a township called Zelda; Google it if you don’t believe it is a real place). I was fortunate enough to be born into a family with a strong connection to the church. My grandmother’s family had built the church I attended in my youth and I had what many would consider a “normal” childhood. My parents imparted to me the knowledge of God, His son Jesus Christ, His sacrifice and His love, grace and mercy. However, my knowledge stayed in my brain and never traveled to my heart. When I transitioned to college,I allowed my heart to grow cold and tried to separate myself from God and His people. Because of God’s reckless love, He sought me, one of His lost sheep, and brought me back to the flock. This flock for me came in the form of Reformed University Fellowship at the University of Kentucky. RUF is a wonderful campus ministry that seeks to equip students to serve God and each other (for anyone seeking Christian community in college, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out your campus RUF). Since my rededication, I have continued to be sanctified through the ministry of RUF and the local church.
This blog is my way of communicating what I have learned in my relatively brief time as a Christian to new believers or those who need encouragement in a tough season of life. I believe God has called all Christiansto ministry. Though not all of us can be preachers, I think we can all share our witness with through various mediums. I have chosen this blog as my medium to not only draw closed to God, but to draw closer to others and share experiences that could be beneficial to all of our processes of sanctification.
This is an awesome thing to behold! God bless you and RUF at UK! - James Ellis
